Kate Healy is dedicated to the teaching and practice of Classical, Therapeutic & Vinyasa Yoga. Her mission is to bring high quality yoga and
meditation instruction to all levels of students, ranging from the raw beginner to the most advanced student. Her teaching is centered on the transmission of yoga’s
significant health benefits through the application of proper form and technique.
Yoga postures, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques are taught gradually and methodically, with a focus on meeting the unique needs of each student through the
intelligent use of appropriate yoga props combined with knowledgeable personal attention and adjustments. It is Kate’s goal that students receive the greatest possible
health benefits from their practice of yoga. She welcomes students recovering from injury or illness, as well as those struggling with chronic, often unresponsive conditions.
Kate also strives to support her students in the development of a personal home yoga practice, making suggestions with each student’s individual needs and goals in
mind.
Since 1979, Kate has been practicing and studying yoga as a holistic discipline. She has been influenced by the masters of Therapeutic Yoga; BKS Iyengar, TKV Desikachar and
Pattabhi Jois, representing Classical, Vinyasa and Ashtanga Yoga styles. Kate studied extensively with Manju Jois (the son of the late Pattabhi Jois), Dona Holleman of Italy
and Gerard Arnaud of Paris, France, during the years 2001-2005. Currently, she is a student of Orit Sen-Gupta, a devoted student of Ms. Holleman and the late Pattabhi Jois,
as well as the first woman to translate Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras into Hebrew. Kate will travel to The Netherlands in January of 2011 to attend an advanced teacher workshop
with Ms. Sen-Gupta. She has also studied the work and writings of Krishnamacharya, the father of modern yoga. Modern mystics, such as Stephen Levine, Jiddhu Krishnamurthi
and Thich Nhat Hanh, have added to the foundation of Kate’s meditative practice. Kate is currently certified at the highest level recognized by the national Yoga Alliance
and is pursuing an advanced degree in Sanskrit Studies and Indian Philosophy through the University of Pennsylvania. In addition, she completed a thorough independent study
of East-West Integrative Anatomy and Physiology while working with a noted cardiologist at the University of Pennsylvania on a grant for the study of yoga’s effects
on the reduction of high blood pressure.
Kate’s focus steadfastly remains on facilitating a healthy flow of the body’s vital forces. These forces, termed collectively, prana or chi, are supported by
Kate’s teaching in a manner that helps to decrease pain and disease, while increasing health and well-being. Throughout her years of teaching yoga, she has helped many
individuals achieve greater levels of health and vital energy. She is the former owner of Yoga on the Farm, an intimate studio set in rural Chester Springs, as well as the
former owner of both Yellow Springs Yoga and the Yellow Springs Yoga Teacher Certification Program, a nationally accredited yoga teacher-training program, which certified
many talented yoga teachers currently teaching yoga in Chester county. Both programs were also located in Chester Springs, PA.

Mary Booth, BEd., MEd., RYT200,
has been in the fitness industry since 1985. She began her career as a full-time elementary and middle school teacher and a part-time certified group fitness instructor.
In 2002 she earned a yoga certification from Kate Healy, E-RYT 500 through Yellow Springs Yoga and received registry from the national Yoga Alliance. Mary was trained in
classical Hatha-style yoga, which places great emphasis on posture and alignment. However, her love of physical fitness led her to specialize in Vinyasa Yoga - a flowing
and athletic practice. Mary has extensive knowledge and has studied with many renowned yoga instructors such as Shiva Rea, Rama Birch, Angela Farmer and Desiree Rumbaugh.
Her classes are an experienced blend of invigorating asana, sound body alignment, and spiritual insight. She has a deep love of nature and will share wisdom about our infinite
connection to the Universe. Her belief is that yoga leaves you a better version of yourself.
Additionally, Mary is a Thai-Yoga
body worker. She received her training from Michael Buck, a master in the field. Mary is also a staff member of the Village Yoga Teacher Certification Program and a yoga
instructor for the Philadelphia Flyers. Mary will continue to teach our Wednesday morning Vinyasa flow yoga classes at Village Yoga and is available for private lessons in
the studio.

Daniel Bower was born
in 1978 and raised in Lansdowne PA, he moved to rural Berks County in 2001 to pursue a lifestyle of musical and meditative practice. Discovering an inner connection to yoga
early in life, Bower explains, “As long as I can remember I’ve craved physical balance and spiritual growth. I practiced headstands and meditation long before
I ever learned what yoga is. Somewhere around age 22 I picked up an instructional book on yoga and have been practicing ever since. The benefits have proven enriching and
life altering.”
In January 2010, Daniel attended a yogic lifestyle immersion course Hawaii at Konalani Yoga Ashram where he received his 200 hour teaching certification. Daniel teaches both
Hatha and Vinyasa styles of yoga and plans to complete his 500 Hours Certification in 2011 by returning to the Konalani Yoga Ashram. He and his two dogs Missoula and Sally
currently reside in the Fleetwood, PA area in ‘The Moonlight Forest’ where he runs a recording studio and teaches yoga at his own studio. At 31 Daniel is a full
time musician & yogi. He performs regularly near and far in several bands playing drums, guitar, banjo & mandolin. He plays for kids and adults of all ages.
"What lies behind us and what lies before us,are very tiny compared to what lies within us."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Amanda
Olson teaches both Classical Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga. From her very first Yoga class, Amanda knew that she had discovered something special, and that realization is
what inspired her to become a Yoga teacher. Amanda enjoys teaching and hopes to provide a calming, safe environment for her students. She believes it is important to accept
where we are in the present moment and find joy in our personal growth. Along the way we will discover things about ourselves that we never knew existed.
Amanda received her BA in Education in 1999 and completed her 200 hour level certification in both Hatha and Vinyasa styles of yoga, trained by Kate Healy of Village Yoga,
in 2010. She is registered as a Yoga teacher with the national Yoga Alliance.
Kelly Baker - Kelly teaches Classical Hatha yoga. She found her way to her mat in 2001 after the
birth of her first daughter. Juggling a career and a new baby and feeling absolutely overwhelmed, “I
was drawn to yoga at the urging of a client to help me deal with the stress. To say that yoga has not transformed my life would be an understatement. Physically, I am stronger
than I ever have been in my life. Mentally, I am more flexible and open. Spiritually, I am able to find opportunities for nourishment where before I may have only seen road
blocks.”
Kelly loves teaching yoga and her students can expect a safe alignment-focused class with time to explore the poses deeper. “My goal is to help people
to listen to their own bodies. I like to offer alignment cues as I want my students figure out how the postures can serve them, not how they can achieve a picture perfect
pose.” Yoga is a deeply personal journey and is as unique as the individual experiencing it. When I stand in front of my class, I know I am exactly where I need to
be at that moment, in the company of good friends on our collective and individual journeys.
Kelly received her BS in Biology in 1989 and MBA in Management Information Systems in 1998. She started working as an environmental field chemist, traveling
the country and is now a director in IT. Still a busy mom with two very active girls, she enjoys riding her horse, sailing with her family and burying her nose in a good
book. She completed her 200 hour level certification in both Hatha and Vinyasa styles of yoga, trained by Kate Healy of Village Yoga, in 2010. She is registered as a Yoga
teacher
with the national Yoga Alliance.
